      Hello,

thank you for you comment. This is a bit of a tricky question, actually the name of the default Medium in question is “Paid Search” not “CPC”. On the other hand CPC is part of Paid Search by the GA definition: Medium matches regex ^(cpc|ppc|paidsearch)$ AND Ad Distribution Network does not exactly match Content (https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/3297892?hl=en)

So it could be that you are right, we will change the answer for now.

Doesn’t this answer conflict with the answer on the “Campaigns” section:

Which of the following traffic mediums are automatically tracked by Google Analytics without extra tagging or account linking? Check all that apply.

On that question it says the only ones automatically tagged are “organic”, “referral” and “direct”

Hello Scott, thank you for your input.

We found the following info in this Google document:
    https://analyticsacademy.withgoogle.com/course01/assets/pdf/DigitalAnalyticsFundamentals-Lesson4.5CollectingcampaigndataText.pdf

Google Analytics detects three mediums without any customization.
    ● The first default medium is “organic.” It represents traffic that comes from organic, or unpaid, search results.
    ● Another default medium is “referral.” Any traffic that comes to your site from another website that’s not a search engine will show up in your reports as a “referral.”
    ● The final default medium is “(none).” This medium is applied only for users that come directly to your site by either typing your URL into a browser or clicking on a bookmark. In your reports, you will see these users have a source of “direct” and a medium of “(none).”

That means, that only these three mediums are tracked automatically (if auto tagging is not enabled in Google AdWords!) and also that only these three are default mediums. It would also mean, that “CPC/Paid” is NOT a default medium and “email” is also NOT a default medium, but that would make an answer to the question “Which of the following is not a default Medium in Google Analytics?” impossible, because you can choose only one option.

Maybe someone else can help out with the correct answer to this question.

Thank you Nikhilesh for your input on this topic. Your answer corresponds to the info from the google website. But Google allows only one answer nowadays (click all that apply is not possible anymore), so we are pretty sure there is a mistake in the GAIQ and this question could not be answered correctly. Maybe Google has changed the question and/or the possible answers in the meantime.
